The mod menu

Every yew2K setting lives in a 25-page menu drawn on the Zen's OLED. Four controls run the whole thing.

The four controls

Do thisPlayStationXbox
Open the menuHold L2, press OptionsHold LT, press Menu
Previous / next pageL2 held + D-pad Left / RightLT held + D-pad Left / Right
Toggle On/Off or change the optionL2 held + D-pad Up / DownLT held + D-pad Up / Down
Change a millisecond valueL2 held + hold Cross + Up / DownLT held + hold A + Up / Down

Keep L2 held the entire time. The moment you release it, the menu stops reading the D-pad and your D-pad goes back to being your D-pad. The menu itself draws on the Zen's OLED, not the TV.

Changes save automatically to persistent variables on the Zen. There is no save button and nothing is lost when you power down.

Holding Cross to fine-tune

On a page with a millisecond value, tapping Up or Down on its own just flips the mod On and Off. To move the number you hold Cross (A on Xbox) and tap Up or Down. Auto-green pages move in 5 ms steps; Button Rhythm moves in 1 ms steps.

The pages that have a value: Button Rhythm, Auto-Green, Left Fade, Right Fade, Catch Shoot, Step Back, Quick Stop.

What the numbers mean and which way to move them is on What the ms values mean.

Reading the OLED

  • The page name is at the top. The counter n / 25 is bottom-right.
  • With a script loaded the OLED shows the script name. If it shows the Gearhead logo, nothing is loaded.
  • yew2K shows its own logo for a 1500 ms lockout at boot. The menu will not open during that second and a half.

Kill switch

ComboResult
PS button + L2 (Xbox button + LT)Script off. The Zen's LED goes black.
PS button + R2 (Xbox button + RT)Script back on.

Use it when you want the raw controller for a possession without unplugging anything. Menu values persist on the Zen, so turning the script back on does not mean re-tuning.

Before the menu: loading the script

The menu only exists once the compiled script is running on the Zen. The loop, in Zen Studio:

  1. Open Zen Studio (Zen Studio Live in Chrome is the current version) and go to the Compiler tab.
  2. Drag in your .gpc from the yew.gg Generator and press Compile.
  3. Drag the compiled script into one of the 8 memory slots.
  4. Press Play (the flash icon) to write it to the Zen.
  5. Disconnect from the PC. Connect the rear CONSOLE port to the console and the controller to the front A1 port.
  6. Pick the slot with the button on the Zen. The OLED shows the script name.

Firmware and Zen Studio versions referenced by this wiki: firmware 2.3.2, Zen Studio Live 1.0.8. Zen Studio Legacy 1.7.0 b7 works for firmware 2.2.14 and earlier. The web firmware updater is firmware.modcentral.ca (Chrome or Edge).

Questions

The menu won't open. What's wrong?
One of three things: the script is not running (the OLED should show the script name, not the Gearhead logo), the build is outdated (re-download from yew.gg and recompile), or the controller is not in the A1 port on the front of the Zen.
Up and Down only toggle On/Off. How do I change the number?
Hold Cross (A on Xbox) while tapping Up or Down. That is how every millisecond value in the menu is changed.
Do I have to save?
No. Values are written to persistent variables on the Zen and save automatically. They survive a power cycle.
Where does the menu show up?
On the Zen's OLED screen, not on the TV. Keep the Zen where you can see it while you tune.
