What it does

Button rhythm is turning your regular button shot into a rhythm shot. When you press Square, your controller's right stick gets pulled down (on the software output level, not in real life) and this starts a rhythm shot — then when you release the button, it smoothly flicks the stick up to give it rhythm.
— yew

You press Square and release it exactly as you always have. Under the hood the script pulls the right stick down when you press, then sweeps it back up when you let go. 2K27 grades the tempo of that stick movement, so the shot registers as a rhythm shot instead of a plain button shot.

The millisecond value is how long the upward flick lasts after you release Square. It is the center step of a 6-point ease-in-out sweep. A snap (very short value) shrinks the green window, so the sweep is deliberately smooth rather than instant.

Button Rhythm does not time the shot for you. You still release at your jumpshot's cue. What it changes: a bigger green window, a smaller shot-contest penalty, and more consistent results from one shot to the next.

How to turn it on

Hold L2 (LT on Xbox) and press Options (Menu on Xbox). The menu draws on the Zen's OLED, not on the TV. Keep L2 held the whole time you are in it.

  1. Tap D-pad Right until the OLED shows Button Rhythm (page 2 / 25).
  2. Tap D-pad Up or Down to switch it On.
  3. To change the ms value, hold Cross (A on Xbox) and tap Up or Down. It moves 1 ms per tap. Without Cross held, Up/Down only toggles On/Off.
  4. Release L2. The value is saved on the Zen automatically.

Tuning

There is no formula. The template centers at 35 ms; yew runs 23 ms. Pick a value, shoot fades and stand-stills in online MyCourt, and keep the number that feels best on your jumpshot.

Values worth knowing

ValueMeaning
8 msBottom of the range. Closest to a snap.
23 msyew's own setting (Sept 3 notes).
35 msTemplate default (center of the range).
80 msTop of the range. Longest, slowest flick.

The script also scales the sweep by context without you touching anything. These multipliers are automatic:

Automatic context multipliers

SituationSweep change
Turbo fades (R2 + fade with Turbo Fades on)~18% slower
Insta-Stop or Quick Stop shots~10% faster
Shots on the move~8% faster
Shot within 400 ms of leaving the move stick (step-back, hop gather)Slightly faster

Read what the ms values mean before you start moving numbers around, and check the required in-game settings first — Shot Timing must be Shots and Layups or nothing here matters.

Conflicts & gotchas

  • It only touches Square shots. Right-stick shots are handled by Auto Tempo, which is a separate page.
  • Need one plain, un-rhythmed Square shot? Hold your SQ Remap button while pressing Square. Default remap is L3.
  • If Button Rhythm is Off, the SQ Remap page shows Off and does nothing.
  • Shot Meter must be Off in 2K. With the meter on, the green window is narrower and every value will feel worse than it is.
  • Standstill Auto-Green never uses the rhythm sweep — it holds Square with the stick neutral and times the release. The two mods do different jobs.

This page documents the yew2K mod set. Values and page numbers come from the shipping build; your Generator build on yew.gg/2k may show different defaults, and the OLED is always right. Support for the yew2K NBA 2K27 Cronus Zen script is on yew.gg/discord.

Questions

Does Button Rhythm green the shot for me?
No. It converts your button press into a rhythm shot with a wider green window. You still release on your cue. The mod that times shots for you is Auto-Green.
Why does Up/Down only turn it On and Off?
You have to hold Cross (A on Xbox) while tapping Up/Down to change the millisecond value. Without Cross, the D-pad toggles the mod.
What value should I use?
Start at the default 35, try lower values in online MyCourt, and keep what feels best. yew runs 23. There is no formula that maps a jumpshot to a number.
